The film was written and shot for the Punched project and The Circle - to raise global awareness about sexual violence. South Africa has one of the highest reported incidences of rape in the world.

DAY 5 - NINE DAYS IN AUGUST DIR. ELLA KNORZ

Lea is 18 and pregnant. While the seemingly carefree, endless summer days ripple by amidst outdoor swimming pools, parties, funfairs and sunrises, she is confronted with the bureaucracy of having an abortion.

From one call loop to the other and the occasional caring encounters with her best friend Elin or her unsuspecting father, "Nine Days in August" explores the tensions between two parallel worlds that suddenly open up in a coming of age summer.

DAY 10 - LIMINAL ROOTS DIR. ALIYAH HARFOOT

From childhood to adolescence, a journey through the memories of a young girl struggling to come to terms with the complexity of her mixed-raced identity. Leaving the safety of her home for the first time she becomes aware that there is something different about her. Her hair takes the shape of her emotional state as she tries to understand what this is and where she fits in the world.

DAY 14 - PERIPETEIA DIR. TRACY KIRYANGO

Aria and Jess are long-time friends. They are speedily entering the stage of adulthood where their paths begin to separate. Aria has finally found her perfect match, Michael - a kind and loving partner who meets all of her needs. This nudges Jess to pursue her own journey of finding the one. The feeling of being left behind, and wanting her love story to persevere ends up leading to her untimely death.
